The Appalachian Screams
The sounds that inspired the podcast. This sound clip was recorded in Western North Carolina around midnight in January 2020. I was sitting on the back deck of our cabin enjoying the brisk night air before going to bed. It was dead silent outside, until these blood curdling screams pierced the silence. I later pulled the audio off my backyard camera. It has some crackle to it, as the volume is boosted, but the recording is 100% authentic.

Orbs observed for 20 minutes over north Georgia near a Military Base. This was also an offical MUFON case with no explanation given.

The Long Dark Days began as a personal archive — field notes from years spent following official reports and interviewing eyewitnesses who want their stories told. It became a podcast because the accounts deserved more than just a file folder.
Every episode presents documented witness testimony, regional historical context, and careful analysis. No dramatization. No manufactured suspense (except sound effects/music). These events happened to real people, and they are treated accordingly.
These Long Dark Days is independent. No network. No actors. No sponsors who require us to soften or bend conclusions.
